FavoriteSpace is an online football fan experience app for iOS and Android, using C++ and Unreal Engine 5. As Game Developer, I was in charge of improving the game performance, reducing memory usage and app size, implementing new gameplay features and fixing network related issues.
FavoriteSpace was launched in August 2024 as a service that utilizes Sony’s expertise in technology and entertainment. It delivers new sports content and creates a social entertainment space where fans can share their passion for their team. Manchester City’s home, the Etihad Stadium, has been reproduced in virtual space, and fans can visit anytime with their avatars. There, fans can enjoy immersive virtual content heightening the sense of unity they experience among themselves.
The app’s standout feature is Immersive Highlights, which delivers match footage from unique and personalised angles, such as a bird’s-eye view of an entire attacking move or a focus on off-the-ball tactical movements often missed in standard highlights. This experience was developed using Sony’s Hawk-Eye technology. Here is a video showcasing it:
Beyond highlights, the app offers a virtual stadium tour with access to exclusive areas of Etihad Stadium, such as the dressing room, press room, and more. On matchdays, the Matchday Festival runs from before kick-off to the final whistle, bringing fans together worldwide to chant during key moments, share your support through chat and emotes, and celebrate your passion for the team and players together. The app also features strong gamification, with matchday predictions, challenges, and fan-level progression that rewards engagement and support for the club. Teaser video:
